GRANTS

Guidelines for Completing the Application
THE GRANT CYCLE OPENS OCTOBER 6, 2025
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS 5:00 P.M. November 7, 2025

Instructions
Application

The Kent Schools Foundation provides grants that directly benefit Kent School District students. The purpose of the Classroom Enrichment Grant initiative is to fund projects such as art, music, STEM, reading, field trips, social/emotional programs and unique experiences that enrich student learning in the classroom. Grants help educators amplify, support and reinforce their daily curriculum with innovative projects that reach students at their level. All KSD employees are eligible to apply for grants. Applicants are eligible to submit a new grant application each year.

Grant awards are typically $500 or up to $500 for each person in a collaborating group. In limited circumstances, the Foundation may award a grant recipient greater than $500. Applications requesting $500, or less, will be evaluated prior to those which are greater than $500. Grant funds should supplement, not supplant programs funded by the district or through other grants or community funding such as PTA and ASB. Each grant application requires approval from the applicant’s principal or supervisor. Applications must be submitted through the Foundation’s grant email address: grants@kentschoolsfoundation.org.

The Foundation’s major areas of focus are:

  1. Academic Support & Enrichment: Closing learning gaps, bringing curriculum alive in new ways, igniting curiosity and passion for learning.
  2. Student Well-being and Social Emotional Support: Addressing the needs of the whole student to be able to learn.
  3. Community Outreach: Ensuring we meet the needs of our diverse community, creating opportunities for everyone to thrive.

Each grant proposal will be evaluated based on criteria which include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Innovative and educational nature – including student support
  • Realistic and achievable goals
  • Initial and ongoing bene8it to students
  • Reasonable budget – include KSD transportation cost estimating, as applicable.
  • Clarity: Applications can be typed or handwritten. Please be clear and concise to help the Committee understand the value of your project.
  • Whether the proposal has other resources or funding available for the grant application (i.e. PTSA/PTO, district, service club, etc.).
  • Whether your grant can be partially funded and still achieve the goals of the grant.

The criteria have no significance as to their relative importance in the order indicated or the weight given to each. They are all important.

Examples of Non-fundable items:

  • Salary, stipends, or release time.
  • School materials or supplies available through the general school budget.
  • Snacks or meals
  • Incentives or rewards
  • Computer-related items and software not supported by KSD technology

Expectations & Reporting Requirements:

  • By accepting Kent Schools Foundation funds, you agree to acknowledge funding and submit a Project Report by June 15, 2026 (available on the Kent Schools Foundation website). Your report should share outcomes and success stories of the funded program.
  • Grant recipients are expected to publicly acknowledge the Kent Schools Foundation and to collect and submit photos related to the grant. Please assure that all students shown in photos have permission for use of photos. Photos may be used at Foundation events, in media, and/or shared with donors.
  • If changes to the items funded are needed, email the Foundation for approval.
  • Grant funds are intended for the current school year and must be spent or committed to be spent by the end of the school year or funds will be returned to the Foundation.

Ownership of Materials or Equipment Acquired with a Grant:
